The DA conducted a steady campaign of character smears

Prior to this arrest Drew had no criminal history, was working part-time, was enrolled and in good standing at  Berkeley Community College, and had managed to save $900 toward the purchase of a used car.  The prosecutor, who relied heavily on petty grade school disciplinary records, the fact that Drew smoked marijuana, that Drew listened to hip hop music to argue that Drew had a gangster mentality, and a “criminal lifestyle.”

Drew was convicted, not on the facts of what happened the night of May 3, 2008, but on character assassination and innuendos.

Drew was wrongfully convicted.
